David Gilmour has released a new single, “The Piper’s Call.” He debuted it on BBC Radio 2 and plans to release the video tomorrow (4-26).
The song is from Luck And Strange, his first solo album in nine years, which comes out sometime this fall. The Pink Floyd guitarist, recorded it over a five month period, in studios in Brighton and London.
Gilmour worked with Charlie Andrew to co-produce the album, someone who wasn’t as familiar with his stardom. About the experience, Gilmour said: : “He has a wonderful lack of knowledge or respect for this past of mine. He’s very direct and not in any way over-awed, and I love that. That is just so good for me because the last thing you want is people just deferring to you.”
The 11 song collection will be available on CD, vinyl, and Blu-ray, as well as in vinyl box sets.
