DEKALB CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says that investigators think alcohol was a factor in a single-vehicle crash that injured an Auburn woman.
Police said that Natalie Renee Kovets, 31, was driving eastbound in the 5500 Block of 11a when her Jeep left the roadway and struck a light pole just before 3 a.m. Monday.
The SUV sustained heavy front-end damage. It is unclear what happened between the time of the crash and when Kovets was located at her residence. Police said in a press release that she had a significant injury and heavy bleeding on her right knee as well as injuries to her right hand and stomach area.
Kovets told police that she fell asleep and struck the light pole. She was taken to a local hospital and treated for her injuries.
While police said that they do suspect alcohol to be a factor in the crash they did not announce any charges in the crash. it remains under investigation.
