ELKHART CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana State Police say that a wanted man was arrested on Wednesday. ISP says Michael Lee Eppenbaugh was wanted on multiple warrants out of Kosciusko County.
The same man was arrested recently in Cass County, Indiana after he was accused of stealing a Mishawaka Police Department squad car.
Police were made aware that Eppenbaugh had been seen at the Union Center Amish Store in Nappanee. When police arrived, he ran off and police cornered him at a barn located on the property. After 40 minutes of searching, ISP says that officers found Eppenbaugh hiding under hay bales.
He was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail on multiple warrants.
Indiana State Police released the following:
This afternoon officers from several jurisdictions converged on the Union Center Amish Store located in the 25000 block of CR 50 in Nappanee, IN after a credible sighting of Michael Lee Eppenbaugh.
At approximately 2:24 p.m. on December 6, 2023, troopers with the Indiana State Police were advised of a sighting of Michael Lee Eppenbaugh, 42 of Warsaw, IN. As officers from several jurisdictions arrived Eppenbaugh fled on foot and was believed to be hiding in a barn located on the property. Officers searched for approximately 40 minutes and ultimately found Eppenbaugh hiding under hay bales. He was safely taken into custody and arrested for several outstanding warrants out of Kosciusko County.
Eppenbaugh was transported to the Kosciusko County Jail for the following warrants:
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Serious Violent Felon Level 4 Felony
Habitual Traffic Violator-Life Level 5 Felony (three counts)
Resisting Law Enforcement Level 6 Felony (three counts)
Auto Theft Level 6 Felony (three counts)
Possession of Methamphetamine Level 6 Felony
Possession of Methamphetamine Level 5 Felony
Residential Entry Level 6 Felony
10 additional Misdemeanor warrants
The Indiana State Police was assisted by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, and Nappanee Police Department.
