UPDATE (October 24, 2023):
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – We have now learned that the victims in two recent fatal shootings were married. The Allen County Coproner’s Office says that Vanessa and Sean Brabson were both found shot to death two days apart in Fort Wayne.
34-year-old Vanessa’s body was discovered off Sherman Boulevard Friday.
Then on Sunday, 33-year-old Sean Thomas Brabson was found shot to death close to Calhoun and Petit.
On Saturday, police said that 31-year-old Sedrick Williams had been arrested in connection to Vaneesa’s death.
And then on Sunday, Vanessa’s brother, James Saylor, 33, was reportedly arrested Sunday and charged in connection to the murder of Sean Brabson.

The Allen County Coroner released the following:
The autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the next of kin for the individual found deceased in the 900 block of Sherman Boulevard, in Fort Wayne, on Friday, October 20, 2023, at approximately 10:36 hours. The decedent was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Fort Wayne Fire Department.
She has been positively identified as Vanessa Lynn Brabson a female, Black, 34 years of age from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Vanessa Lynn Brabson’s Cause of Death has been determined to be Gunshot Wound of Head, and the Manner of Death is Homicide.
Vanessa Lynn Brabson is the 22nd Homicide for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2023.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified on October 22, 2023, by a local hospital, regarding the death of Sean Thomas Brabson, male, Black, age 33, of Fort Wayne, Indiana. On October 22, at approximately 06:42 hours, Fort Wayne Police responded to a shooting in the 5000 block of South Calhoun Street. Sean Thomas Brabson was transported to a local hospital where death was pronounced.
Sean Thomas Brabson’s Cause of Death has been determined to be Multiple Gunshot Wounds, and the Manner of Death is Homicide.
Sean Thomas Brabson is the 23rd Homicide for the Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2023. The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
These two decedents are husband and wife, however their deaths occurred during two different shootings.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A 31-year-old man was arrested after a victim’s body was found Friday on the 900 block of Sherman Boulevard. Sedrick Williams has been charged with murder.
The FWPD released the following:
On Saturday, October 21st, 2023, 31-year-old Sedrick Williams was arrested for the charge of Murder in connection to a victim that was located on October 20th in the area of 920 Sherman Blvd at Bloomingdale Park. Sedrick Williams is currently being housed at the Allen County Jail. This investigation is still active and ongoing at this time. The Gang and Violent Crimes Unit and Vice/Narcotics Unit assisted in the apprehension of Sedrick Williams.
On Friday, the Fort Wayne Police Department released the following:
On Friday October 20, 2023 at approximately 10:40 AM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 900 block of Sherman Blvd in reference to an unresponsive individual. As officers and paramedics arrived on the scene, they located the individual who was unresponsive. Paramedics pronounced the individual to be deceased at the scene.
The exact cause and manner of death as well as the victims identity will be released by the Allen County Coroners Office. The Fort Wayne Police Department is asking for anyone who may have information regarding this investigation to contact detectives at 427-1201 or use the P3 tip app.
This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen Count Prosecutors Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
