FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says one person has life-threatening injuries and two others were hurt in a crash Thursday night close to Parkview Regional Medical Center.
Officials with the FWPD said in a press release that a call came in just before 8 p.m. rep[orting the crash.
Officers believe that a vehicle heading westbound ran the light and struck another vehicle turning onto Dupont Road from Parkview Plaza Drive.
Fort Wayne firefighters had to free one of the victims from their vehicle, according to the FWPD.
Police say that they do not suspect speed or alcohol played a role in the crash.

On Thursday August 31 st 2023 at approximately 1956 hrs Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a crash at the intersection of Dupont Rd and Parkview Plaza Dr. Dr. Based on witness statements a vehicle traveling west bound on Dupont Rd ran a red light light striking a vehicle making a left turn East bound from Parkview Plaza Dr O ne driver had to be extricated from their vehicle by Fort Wayne Firefighters. Both elderly drivers were transported to a local hospital where one was determined to be suffering life threatening injuries. The other driver was treated for minor injuries. Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be a factor. This incident remains under investigation with the Fort Wayne Poice Department Fatal Accident Crash Team and the Allen County Prosecutors office. Dupont Road between Diebold and I-69 will remain closed to all traffic until the completion of the investigation later this evening.
