FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – You may remember this past Home & Garden Show when organizers asked for help in supporting Community Harvest Food Bank.
Well now, some three months after this year’s events, the Home & Garden Show is making a big donation to the local food bank. On Tuesday, the nonprofit will receive $25,000 from the 2023 Home & Garden Show.
Community Harvest Food Bank received prime exhibit space in the show and a portion of proceeds from the event contributed to the upcoming donation.
Show representatives released the following ahead of a presentation on Tuesday:
Fort Wayne Shows Inc., producer of the Fort Wayne Home & Garden Show, will present a $25,000 check to Community Harvest Food Bank on Tuesday to aid in Community Harvest Food Bank’s ongoing efforts to provide food to local families in need.
The check will be presented by Becky Williamson, third-generation owner of Fort Wayne Shows Inc, to Carmen Cumberland, Community Harvest President and CEO. The check presentation will precede a Farm Wagon Distribution event in which locals in need of nutritional support can drive through and receive boxes of food meant to support one household. After the check presentation, Becky, Gnorm ( the Fort Wayne Home & Garden Show Mascot) and other Fort Wayne Shows staff will assist other volunteers in the food distribution to those in need.
“The Fort Wayne community has supported our small business over the last 50 years, and it is my honor to support such a wonderful organization that gives so much to the community,” said Becky Willliamson, “I am humbled to be just a small part of that!”
Community Harvest Food Bank was selected as the charitable partner for the recent 50th Anniversary Fort Wayne Home & Garden Show that took place March 2 -5, 2023.
“It just doesn’t get any better than this,” said Carmen Cumberland. “This was an incredible opportunity to raise awareness about the food insecurity that kids, seniors, Veterans, and families face in northeast Indiana. In these uncertain times, our food distributions have nearly doubled. This donation does so much more than fill an empty table; it offers hope for brighter days ahead.”
