FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Police Department officials and the Allen County Coroner are confirming that one victim in a double shooting early Tuesday morning has died.
Police said on Wednesday that Tyreece Vachon died at the hospital after being shot in the parking lot of the West Wind Apartments. Another woman is reportedly still in the hospital.
Both were shot just before 2:30 a.m. Initially, police said they had a person of interest in the case but no arrests have been made, according to the FWPD.
The Fort Wayne Police Department released the following:
On April 11th, 2023 at 0233 hours, officers with the FWPD responded to the parking lot in the area of 2107 Point West Dr. regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male and female victim in the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported an area hospital for treatment. The FWPD Homicide Unit responded to the scene of this shooting and interviewed witnesses and residents. The male victim, identified as Tyreece Vachon, later died at the hospital from his injuries and the female victim is still receiving medical treatment. No arrests have been made and this investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the FWPD Homicide Division 427-1201.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following on Vachon’s death:
On Tuesday, April 11th, 2023, the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of a shooting in the 2100 Block of Point West Drive, in Fort Wayne. First responders transported the victim to a local hospital and later he was pronounced deceased.
The victim was identified as Tyreece Corion Vachon, 19, male, Black of Fort Wayne. Notification has been made to the next of kin and an autopsy has been completed. The Cause of Death has been determined to be Multiple Gunshot Wounds and the Manner of Death is ruled a Homicide. Tyreece Corion Vachon is the 9th Homicide for Allen County for 2023.
This incident is under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Officials with the Fort Wayne Police Department say that two people were shot at the West Wind Apartments off Harris Road close to Coliseum Boulevard early Tuesday morning. Right now, police say both are in critical condition.
Police didn’t release many details but said that they believe the shootings happened in the parking lot just before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday and that a person of interest is cooperating with investigators.

On Tuesday, 04/11/2023, at approximately 2:22 AM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2100 block of Point West Drive regarding a shooting.
Officers arrived on scene to find an adult female and an adult male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to a local hospital and are reported as being in life-threatening condition. Officers learned that the shooting took place outdoor in the parking lot. Investigators are speaking with witnesses and a person of interest in the shooting, who are cooperating. Currently investigators do not believe there is any outstanding threat to the community regarding this incident.
