TAIPEI (ADAMS) – Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb is in Taiwan where the democratically-governed island’s president assured him that the U.S. can count on Taiwan as a reliable supplier of semiconductors.
President Tsai Ing-wen referred to semiconductors as “democracy chips” during a signing session for a memorandum of understanding to expand economic cooperation between Indiana and Taiwan.
Holcomb is the third American leader to visit Taiwan this month, after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey led delegations, angering Chinese authorities. Beijing considers Taiwan part of China.
