INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana is about 2,300 teachers short to start the school year.
The Indiana Department of Education’s website lists over 2,000 open teaching jobs across the state.
School districts have made no secret about their struggle to find teachers, so this year’s shortage is not a surprise.
Local school leaders say it’s not just teachers, they say they need to hire more bus drivers, lunch ladies, and classroom assistants before school starts as well.
