MUNCIE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A private security firm will handle security at Muncie Schools next year. The district’s Board of Trustees on Tuesday approved a new $675,000 contract for the firm Legacy Life Security.
The firm will have three resource officers in Muncie’s high school, two each in the city’s middle schools, and another officer to cover Muncie’s six elementary schools.
A school spokesperson said the private firm is a “better deal” for Muncie Schools than partnering with the city’s police department. A protest last fall put some teachers and students at odds with Muncie Police and the officers in the high school.
