BOONE CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – A “Jane Doe” is being identified in Boone County nearly 30 years after her body was found. The discovery was made in 1992 at the bottom of an embankment of the I-65 North on-ramp from State Road 47.
Using new DNA technology, the remains have now been identified as Margaret Ann Sniegowski Junior from Toledo. Police are investigating her death as a homicide.
Sniegowski was 17-years-old when she went missing and her family, who was on hand for the announcement, says they do not know how she ended up in Indiana.
Her body was exhumed in 2015 by order of the sheriff’s department so that new technology could be used to learn her identity.
