FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Community Schools will celebrate National Walk to School Day Wednesday, Oct. 12, with 10 schools participating. Students and staff will gather at designated spots and walk together to school to remind the community that each day thousands of students throughout Fort Wayne walk to school – some out of necessity and some as a healthy life choice.
The event also shows students who don’t typically walk to school that there are safe routes to walk to school. The Walk to School Day events are supported the Fort Wayne Active Transportation Coalition, which encourages making transportation safe and accessible in all forms.
Abbett, Adams, Forest Park, Franke Park, Price, South Wayne, St. Joseph Central, Study, Weisser Park, and Young are set to take part.
