AUBURN, Ind. (ADAMS) – Leaders in DeKalb County are looking at a buggy tax.
WANE-TV reports that County Commissioners President William Hartman says they are talking about a new $250 tax on all horse-drawn buggies in the county.
He says the tax is needed to help keep up with the cost of repairing roads, though he says $250 per buggy won’t cover all of the costs.
Other northern Indiana counties already charge for horse-drawn buggies, so DeKalb County would not be alone. County commissioners will talk about the plan Monday night.
