FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say that a woman has life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle at Lima and Washington Center.
Around 12:15 a.m. Saturday morning, FWPD officers responded to the intersection after being advised that the victim was still down and not responding.
The person who called 911 told dispatchers this might be a hit-and-run after not observing any vehicles that had stopped.
Medics transported the woman to a local hospital. She is said to be in critical condition.
Right now, police don’t have any details about the vehicle that left the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
The FWPD released the following:
On July 30, 2022 shortly after Midnight the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the area of Lima and Washington Ctr Road in reference to a reported pedestrian struck and still down and not responding. The caller was also advising that this might to a hit and run as there are no vehicles still present
Upon Officers arrival they located an adult female still down and unresponsive. The victim was transported to a local hospital with Life Threatening Injuries.
The Fatal traffic team members along with Air Support Units were called to the scene to investigate this incident. Upon their arrival Accident team members began to speak with any witnesses and look for any video evidence that would assist them in identifying the vehicle involved in this accident. Air Support Units utilized the drones to do overhead mapping of the accident scene to assist in the investigation.
At this point of the investigation no additional information is available in regards to the vehicle involved that left the scene.
At this time one lane of Northbound Lima Road just north of Washington Ctr Road is closed to traffic until the scene is cleared.
This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
