FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Former Republican City Councilman Dr. John Crawford passed away Sunday.
Crawford was first elected to an At-large seat in 1995. Crawford was born in New Orleans February 5, 1949. He moved to Fort Wayne in 1976. He practiced with Fort Wayne Radiology and worked with cancer patients until 1983.
Crawford and his wife Marcia married in 1994 and had one son, Grant. Crawford was 73.
Funeral services have not yet been announced yet.
Statement from Mayor Tom Henry on the passing of Dr. John Crawford:
I’m deeply saddened by the sudden death of my friend Dr. John Crawford. He worked tirelessly for our city in his position as City Councilman At-Large and stayed very involved even after he left office. I had the honor of working with him on several pieces of legislation. Cindy and I send our heartfelt condolences to his family on their loss.

I am saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Dr. John Crawford. He devoted 20 years of his life to public service in Fort Wayne and he was a friend to me, a model public servant to every officeholder in northeast Indiana and a reliable and dedicated doctor to thousands of his patients. Amanda and I will continue to pray for him, his wife Marcia and his son Grant.
