FORT WAYNE, Ins. (ADMAS) – A four-hour-long standoff in Fort Wayne ended with an arrest and without shots being fired. Fort Wayne Police say it started about 6:30 yesterday morning at an apartment on the south side on the 7900 block of Serenity Drive.
Officers say a man barricaded himself inside the apartment and refused to come out. After about four hours, police say the man jumped out of his second-story window and tried to run away. He was arrested immediately and taken to jail.

On Sunday May 8, 2022 at approximately 6:48 AM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to an apartment located in the 7900 block of Serenity Drive in reference to a domestic investigation. As officers arrived on the scene, they were advised that an adult male was inside the apartment possibly armed with a handgun.
Officers spoke with the male through the door while he was inside the apartment who refused to come out and speak with officers. Officers heard what appeared to be items being moved from inside near the door to the apartment. Officers then attempted to contact the male while using their PA speaker at which attempts failed to have the male exit the apartment.
Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Emergency Services Team,Crisis response Team, and Air Support Unit were paged to the scene. Officers made several attempts to make contact with the male by calling his cell phone numerous times and again using their PA speakers which all attempts failed.
After several hours, the male jumped from a second story window landing onto the ground where he was immediately taken into custody and treated medically by paramedics. The male was then transported to a local hospital where he was listed with non-life threatening injuries.
This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
