UPDATE (December 9, 2021):
The Allen County Coroner has identified a woman shot and killed while driving on Euclid Avenue over the weekend.
The coroner has also determined her death to be a homicide.
The Allen County Coroner released the following on Thursday:
On December 6, 2021, the Allen County Coroner’s Office was contacted by a local hospital and advised of the death of Ayania Starr Coker a female, black, age 20, of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Ayania Starr Coker was the operator of a motor vehicle that was shot by an unknown assailant, and crashed in to a parked vehicle in the 3000 block of Euclid Avenue, on December 5, 2021. The Three Rivers Ambulance Authority transported her to a local hospital where she was admitted.
The autopsy has been completed and next of kin has been notified. The Cause of Death has been determined to be Gunshot Wound, and the Manner of Death is Homicide.
Ayania Starr Coker is the 44th Homicide for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2021.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen Country Prosecutor’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Police in Fort Wayne are looking for answers about a shooting Sunday that has a woman fighting for her life.
It happened at the intersection of Euclid and Eckart St. on the city’s southeast side about 3 p.m.
Police say a car rolled up, then fired at the woman while she was driving. The woman then crashed her car into a parked pickup truck. Investigators are looking for the shooter. They are not offering any guesses about a motive.
Fort Wayne police released the following:
On December 5, 2021, at 3:09pm, officers responded to a report of a vehicle crash at the intersection of Euclid and Eckart St. While officers were responding, dispatchers also received information of gunfire in the area, and that someone was possibly shot.
Officers arrived at Eckart and Euclid and found a passenger car crashed into a parked pickup truck. The adult female driver of the crashed car was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, and an adult male passenger was unharmed. The female was taken to a local hospital in life-threatening condition, where she remains in life-threatening condition.
Initial information indicates the victim vehicle was at the intersection of Eckart and Reed St when another vehicle opened fire on it for an unknown reason. The victim vehicle then traveled down Eckart St to Euclid St where it crashed.
At this time, detectives are going door to door, trying to locate any witnesses or any video surveillance from nearby houses. Detectives are also speaking with the male passenger and hope to speak to the female victim as soon as possible. Crime scene technicians are looking for any physical evidence.
