An American teacher is one of the latest victims of the war in Ukraine. Family members say Jim Hill was killed waiting in line to get bread, reportedly shot by Russian troops. He was in a city about two hours from the capital, helping his partner receive treatment for multiple sclerosis. He wrote on Facebook they were trapped in the hospital and couldn’t find a safe way out. The Minnesota man had been teaching throughout Europe for the last 25 years.
And in just hours, President Biden is expected to issue a direct warning to China. He’ll tell his counterpart there that the country will be punished if it helps Russia’s war on Ukraine. This will be their first phone call since a video summit in November. The White House already said it was concerned that China may offer military support. Chinese officials call the idea “disinformation” and Russia denies asking for any assistance.
