The fight for new election laws begins today in the Senate. Democrats will start debating two bills, with a vote possible later this week. But they’ll likely come up short without Republican support. The same goes for efforts to change a Senate rule so the voting rights bills can pass.
While the COVID surge isn’t budging just yet. Cases haven’t peaked for most of the nation, with the average at a record of nearly 800,000 infections a day. Some areas in the northeast are seeing numbers drop such as in D.C., Vermont, New York City and New Jersey.
