FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police are on the hunt for the driver of an SUV that now has “significant damage to the rear of the vehicle.” They say that vehicle took off after a crash Wednesday that left a motorcyclist in critical condition.
It happened just after 10 a.m. on East Washington Boulevard. Police arrived to find a motorcyclist on the ground with injuries.
After an investigation, it appeared to officers that the motorcycle crashed into the back of the SUV on the 4400 block of E. Washington.
Police say that the SUV then made a U-turn and took off heading toward New Haven. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
Police are now asking for anyone with information to come forward.

On April 19th, 2023, at approximately 10:05am Fort Wayne Police responded to an accident with injuries in the 4400 block of E. Washington Blvd. Upon arrival officers observed a motorcycle lying in the street. Officers then observed a male adult laying on the side of the road suffering from injuries sustained from the crash. The male operator of the motorcycle was traveling west bound in the 4400 block of E. Washington Blvd. when it crashed into the rear of a stopped SUV. The SUV made a U-turn in the 4400 block of E. Washington Blvd. where the accident occurred and proceeded east bound towards New Haven, In.
Officers on scene tended to the victim as medics arrived then transported the victim to a local hospital where he was described as in critical condition.
The SUV is described by witnesses as silver in color with extensive rear end damage.
The Fort Wayne Police Department FACT (Fatal Accident Team) and ASU (Air Support Unit) were called out to the scene for a thorough investigation. Unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor.
