INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Indiana House is advancing a bill to change the definition for a machine gun in Indiana’s statutes.
House Bill 1365 aims to include devices that can be attached to pistols to make them fully automatic, including those made on 3D printers, in the new definition. Broadening the law would ban such devices.
It was passed by the House 71 to 23 on Monday after returning to the chamber because of an amendment in the Senate.
The bill is supported by the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association, the Indiana Fraternal Order of Police, the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council, and the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force. If it is signed by Governor Holcomb, it will take effect immediately.
