FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Rallies and vigils were held across the country Thursday over how Cornell University has handled a gang-rape allegation.
Supporters in Fort Wayne gathered downtown Thursday night demanding an end to sexual violence.
They were among survivors of assault, students and others gathered in states from coast to coast at more than 150 events.
The case centers around a former student identified only as Jane Doe, who filed a civil lawsuit over an alleged incident in 2024 at one of the Ivy League school’s fraternities, where she said she was gang raped by several members. No one has been charged, and the university has retained former U.S. attorney Sally Yates to review the school’s procedures when it comes to reports of sexual assault.
