FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – One person is dead, and four are injured after a shooting in Fort Wayne. Police responded to the incident just north of McMillen Park after 11 p.m. Saturday.
Four people were found shot at the scene, and another person went to the hospital on their own. One of those who were injured did not survive. Police say the shooting remains under investigation.
The Fort Wayne Police Department released the following:
On Saturday, April 11, 2026, at approximately 11:16 p.m., officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) were dispatched to the 3200 block of Abbott Street in reference to a shooting investigation. Upon arrival, officers located four individuals suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. A fifth victim later arrived at a local hospital’s emergency department with injuries related to the incident.
Officers on scene immediately rendered first aid until medics and the Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD) arrived and continued life-saving measures. All victims located at the scene were transported to area hospitals.
One of the victims later succumbed to their injuries. The conditions of the remaining victims are unknown at this time.
Detectives with the FWPD Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit are actively canvassing the area and speaking with witnesses. The FWPD Air Support Unit (ASU) is also assisting with the investigation.
At this time, there is no known threat to the public.
This incident remains under investigation by the FWPD Detective Bureau and Crime Scene Unit.
