MIAMI CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – An inmate has died at Indiana’s Miami Correctional Facility.
Indiana State Police (ISP) are investigating the death of 50-year-old Shawn Booker of Allen County, who died Saturday. His family has been notified. An autopsy will be done to determine the cause and manner of Booker’s death.
No additional details have been released. Booker was serving a sentence for criminal reckless driving.

ISP released the following:
On April 4, 2026, detectives from the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division at the Peru Post initiated an investigation at the request of the Miami Correctional Facility into the death of inmate Shawn Booker, 50 years of age.
Investigators are being assisted by the Miami County Coroner’s Office and Miami Correctional Facility Investigators. An autopsy will be completed to determine the exact cause of death.
Family notification has been made.
