FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say a man has been found dead in a home on the city’s southeast side after a standoff.
Police and SWAT responded to the home for a mental health crisis in the 39-hundred block of Eastway Drive off of Oxford Street around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Officers made several attempts to bring the man outside the home, but got no response. He was found dead after they entered the home.

The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a residence in the 3900 block of Eastway Drive regarding an armed adult male experiencing a mental health crisis. Officers attempted multiple times to call the individual out of the home, but received no response.
The Emergency Services Team (EST), Crisis Response Team (CRT), and Air Support Unit (ASU) were deployed to assist with de-escalation efforts. After repeated unsuccessful attempts to establish communication, EST made entry into the residence and located the individual unresponsive. Medics were summoned and pronounced the subject deceased.
Crime Scene units are currently processing the scene and collecting evidence. The identity of the individual and cause of death will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
