(ADAMS) – Scientists may have discovered a pill to treat sleep apnea. A European clinical trial found the drug was remarkably effective in reducing breathing interruptions in people with moderate to severe sleep apnea.
Researchers at the University of Gothenburg in Germany say patients taking higher doses had up to 47-percent improved oxygen levels and fewer pauses in breathing during sleep.
They think their findings could pave the way for a medication-based alternative to CPAP machines.
