FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle Tuesday night. Police say it happened just before 10:45 p.m. at South Anthony and Eckhart Street.
Officers found a male victim in the roadway, and he was pronounced dead a short time later. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The Fort Wayne Police Department released the following:
On Tuesday February 24, 2026, at approximately 10:42PM, Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) responded to the intersection of Anthony Boulevard and Eckhart Street in reference to a Crash with Injuries. Witnesses reported that the crash involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. Upon arrival, responding Officers located a male victim lying in the roadway. The Fort Wayne Fire Department and Three Rivers Ambulance Authority arrived on scene shortly after officer arrival and pronounced the male deceased, the driver of the vehicle was not injured. At this time the FWPD’s Fatal Crash Team (FACT) along with the Air Support Unit (ASU) was paged and responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.
Preliminary information indicates that the vehicle was traveling Southbound on Anthony Boulevard as the pedestrian attempted to cross Anthony Boulevard at Eckhart Street. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene, and they are cooperating with the investigation. This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s Office and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
