INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – A bill before the Indiana House would repeal a 2007 law that provides protections for diabetic students. Some lawmakers say the Care of Students with Diabetes Act, also known as Hunter’s Law, is redundant due to federal laws.
The American Diabetes Association disagrees and says it helps children manage their disease in class and protects teachers who help them. They say repealing Hunter’s Law “is a dangerous step backward and one from which it will be difficult for families of children with diabetes to recover.”
