Indiana Department of Health furloughs dozens of workers amid shutdown

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) -The ongoing federal government shutdown has resulted in nearly 50 Indiana Department of Health employees being furloughed starting Monday.

The agency notified 48 workers that they will temporarily lose their jobs until the shutdown ends. They work for the department’s Consumer Services and Health Care Regulation Commission, which is funded by both the state and federal governments. The Indiana Department of Health has nearly 900 employees.
