FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) says that one man died at a Fort Wayne hospital after police found him with gunshot wounds Wednesday evening.
The shooting happened at a home in the 3500 block of S. Lafayette Street around 5:40 p.m. Police are still investigating and have not announced any arrests. Homicide detectives are handling the case and say there is no threat to the public.
The FWPD released the following:
The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a report of a person shoot in the 3500 S. Lafayette St. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, just before 5:45 pm. Officers located a male inside a home suffering from a gunshot wound. The male was transported to a local trauma hospital by ambulance. The male succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased at approximately 6:30 pm.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses and searching the area for evidence including camera footage. Anyone with information or video is asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Department at 260-427-1222, Crime Stoppers at 260-436-7867, or use the anonymous P3 Tips App.
There is not current threat to the public. The 3500 block S. Lafayette St. will be reduced down to a single lane of traffic until approximately 10:30 pm.
This incident is being investigated by the FWPD Homicide Team, Crime Scene, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
