INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – The foster care system in Indiana has grown from 2023 to 2024 by 13 percent, while the national average is down three percent.
The Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System says Indiana had nearly 12,000 children in foster care in 2024, and new entries were up by 30 percent from 2023 to 2024.
Indiana Department of Child Services Director Adam Krupp says 2023 was a historic low for the Hoosier state and says that “generated a lot of questions.”
