FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) says that two handguns, a pistol, ammunition, and more are no longer in the hands of a local teenager.
The Gang and Violent Crimes Unit became aware of a 16-year-old who had illegally obtained firearms, devices, and ammunition. The department reiterated its commitment to ending youth violence in the community.
The FWPD put out the following:
The Fort Wayne Police Department is very serious about ending youth violence in our community. This includes getting guns out of the hands of our youth. Recently our Gang and Violent Crimes Unit (GVCU) became aware of a sixteen-year-old in our community who was illegally in possession of firearms. An investigation was started that led to search warrants being served. This resulted in the seizure of two handguns, an AR pistol, an AR upper, high-capacity magazines, 300 rounds of ammunition, as well as equipment used to manufacture parts to convert Glock handguns to full auto. The Fort Wayne Police Department is committed to keeping our youth and our community safe.
