The death of Tyran McMillian has been ruled accidental.
The Allen County Coroner’s Office released the following:
The Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified by the Fort Wayne Police Department of a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle on 09/21/2025 at the intersection of South Clinton street and East Baker street. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where death was pronounced. Identified was Tyran Dwayne McMillian, Male, Black age 50 of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Tyran Dwayne McMillian’s cause of death is Multiple Blunt Force Injuries due to Motor Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Crash, and the Manner of Death is Accident.
Tyran Dwayne McMillian is the 34th traffic fatality for Allen County in 2025.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) says that a man who was in a wheelchair died after he was hit by a car while trying to cross a street in downtown Fort Wayne on Sunday evening.
Just before 6 p.m., police were called to the intersection of Clinton and East Baker streets for the crash.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the man is cooperating. The victim died after being rushed to a nearby hospital. His identity has not yet been released.
The FWPD released the following:
The Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a vehicle crash with injury on Clinton St at E. Bater Street in front of the U.S. Post Office at 5:48pm. Officers arrived and discovered that the crash involved an male adult in a wheelchair. The wheelchair victim was in critical condition and officer started life saving measures. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The FWPD Fatal Accident Crash Team and Air Support Unit was requested to investigate the crash. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with investigators. At this time police know that it was raining heavily, and the wheelchair was crossing Clinton when he was struck. Investigators are searching the area for video evidence of the crash. While Clinton Street was completely closed for almost two hours, the roadway is now open.
This crash remains under investigation by the FWPD Fatal Accident Crash Team, Air Support Unit, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
