FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says an arrest was made in a fatal hit-and-run from 2021.
The driver, identified as 31-year-old Kierra Chapman, was taken into custody on Friday.
The FWPD says the Fatal Accident Crash Team started an investigation of a crash at the intersection of South Lafayette Street and McKinnie Avenue on Easter 2021. When the officers arrived, they found the crash involved two cars. One was not occupied, and in the other vehicle, everyone was hurt. 17-year-old Samayah Barker was in that vehicle and was then pronounced dead at the scene.
Chapman is currently being held at the Allen County Jail.

Details/Summary: ****Update – Arrest**** On April 4th, 2021 at 0124 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the intersection of S. Lafayette Street and McKinnie Avenue, Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana reference a party-pinned traffic crash.
Fort Wayne police officers arrived on scene and discovered the crash involved two vehicles. The occupants of one vehicle fled the scene, and the occupants of the second vehicle were all injured. The Fort Wayne Fire Department arrived on scene and pronounced the pinned occupant of the truck deceased at 0129 hours. The Allen County Coroner’s office later identified the victim as 17yo Samayah Barker and found she died of blunt force injuries due to a motor vehicle crash.
The Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) was paged out to conduct the criminal investigation. After a lengthy investigation, the driver of the hit-skip was arrested without incident on 07/25/2025 at 1443 hours. She was identified as 31yo Kierra Chapman. Chapman was transported to the Allen County Jail and charged with 1-count of Leaving the Scene of an Accident-Causing Death and 3-counts of Leaving the Scene of an Accident-Causing Bodily Injury. The Fort Wayne Police Department FACT team was assisted by the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
