The Fort Wayne Fire Department released the following:
The Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to the mentioned address at 2309 last night on a possible structure fire. Within four minutes, FD arrived and found a large industrial four-story building with fire visible on the second floor.
First on scene crews coded the fire a 704 – working structure fire, but then quickly upgraded the assignment to a 706 – second alarm. The second alarm brought numerous more crews and apparatus to the scene. Crews worked quickly to extend hose lines to the second floor and worked in zero visibility to extinguish the fire. The work to evacuate the smoke from the building was extensive and the fire remains under investigation at this time.
FWFD was assisted by TRAA (having a medic crew on scene to ensure the health of the firefighters working), FWPD, Allen County Building Department.
