FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – It took over four hours, but teams with the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) were able to draw a barricaded subject situation to a peaceful end. Police say a man was reportedly in violation of a protection order when officers were called to the 5100 block of Northcrest Drive around 7 p.m.
The FWPD says the man was threatening self-harm and refused to come out.
Finally, around 11:20 p.m., he exited the residence and was taken into custody. It is unclear what, if any, charges he will face.
The FWPD released the following:
On June 23rd, 2025, at approximately 7:00pm, the Fort Wayne Police Department received a call for service in the 5100 block of Northcrest Drive regarding a Domestic Disturbance. It was found out that there was also a Protective Order Violation with the suspect and the caller and that the suspect was known to carry a firearm. When Officers arrived, they saw the suspect enter the residence and refused to exit the home. Multiple attempts were exhausted to try and get the suspect to come out of the home peacefully; however, all were refused. Due to the nature of the call and threats of self-harm by the suspect, Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Emergency Services Team, Crisis Response Team, and Air Support Unit were dispatched to the scene around 8:15pm.
Several more attempts were made to contact the suspect. The suspect continued to refuse all commands to exit the residence. At approximately 11:20pm the suspect taken into custody without incident.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
