FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Fire Department says it took about ten minutes to get control of a house fire in Waynedale Tuesday morning.
When crews arrived, just after 6:30, to the home and the 6400 block of Maywood Circle, they found the homeowner trying to put out the fire with a garden hose through the window.
Firefighters got into the house and began to put out the flames with a hose line. By 6:52, the FWFD says that the fire was extinguished.
Three people in the home at the time safely evacuated before crews arrived. Firefighters were able to rescue a dog from inside the home.
The house suffered moderate fire, smoke, and water damage. The cause of the fire was ruled to be accidental.

At approximately 0635, Fort Wayne 911 Communications Center received a call, reporting a house on fire in the 6400 Block of Maywood Circle. Firefighters were dispatched and arrived on scene to find a homeowner spraying a garden hose through a window. Firefighters entered the home with a hose line and aggressively attacked and extinguished the fire. Occupants had self evacuated and had been alerted by an occupant and a smoke detector. Other firefighters searched the home and rescued a dog from the fire. The house was cleared of smoke and investigators determined the fire was accidental. FWFD was assisted by FWPD, TRAA, AEP, Neighborhood Code Enforcement, NIPSCO, and Fort Wayne 911 Communications Center.
