FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says that an 11-year-old is expected to recover after he was stabbed off South Anthony Boulevard on Thursday. The FWPD says that officers located the boy at South Anthony and Colonial Avenue around 1:30 p.m.
Police say a 27-year-old man, Trayveon Sewel, was quickly identified and apprehended. In a press release, the department said he was wearing a mask similar to the one in the movie “Scream” when he attacked the boy. He is now facing a charge of Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, a Level 6 Felony.
The FWPD put out the following on Thursday afternoon:
On June 12, 2025, at approximately 1330 hrs, officers from the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) responded to reports of a stabbing at the corner of South Anthony Blvd and Colonial. Upon arrival, officers found an 11-year-old male victim who had been stabbed in the abdomen by a suspect wearing a “Scream” mask. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The relationship between the suspect and the victim is currently unknown.
The suspect, identified as Trayveon Sewel, a 27-year-old male, was located by uniform officers in the 4500 block of Atwood Dr. and taken into custody without incident. Sewel is currently in custody for Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, a Level 6 Felony.
Detectives are actively interviewing witnesses and seeking video footage from the area to further the investigation.
