INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Governor Mike Braun says the state is out of lethal injection drugs, and he is not planning on buying more for the time being.
Indiana killed death row inmates Joseph Corcoran in December and Benjamin Ritchie last month, and those were the state’s first executions since 2009.
Braun says he is open to addressing how to move forward with executions, given that he does not want to spend $300,000 for a drug that just has a 90-day shelf life.
He added that there are lawmakers who are questioning if the death penalty is still relevant, and he will listen to them.
