GRANT CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says it received a generous $60,000 anonymous donation, allowing the office to purchase 32 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to be deployed across patrol units.
“We are extremely grateful for this remarkable donation,” said Sheriff Del Garcia. “In rural counties like Grant, our deputies are often the first to arrive on emergency scenes—including those involving sudden cardiac arrest. Having an AED available can mean the difference between life and death.”
The office is still working toward the goal of obtaining 15 additional AEDs to ensure that every deputy has this life-saving device readily available while on duty.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office released the following:
Community members who wish to support this mission can contribute through Bolt for the Heart, a nonprofit organization dedicated to placing AEDs in the hands of law enforcement and first responders throughout Indiana.
AEDs are critical tools that can restore a normal heart rhythm in seconds, and their availability in law enforcement vehicles significantly increases the chances of survival in cardiac emergencies. With the addition of these 32 AEDs, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office takes a major step forward in enhancing our emergency response capabilities and protecting the lives of those we serve.
We encourage anyone who wants to help us close the gap and fund the remaining AEDs to visit www.boltfortheheart.com and designate their donation to Grant County, Indiana. Our annual Bolt for the Heart family run events raise funds to support our efforts in the placement of AEDs in a lifesaving effort of people who experience sudden cardiac arrest.
