FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control (FWACC) is set to receive a $50,000 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love in support of their lifesaving work for pets in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Plus, we are sharing another surprise with the Fort Wayne, Indiana, community. The local Petco pet care center at 315 E. Coliseum Boulevard has begun welcoming adoptable cats and kittens from Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control into their adoption center.
Check Presentation will be held on Friday at the Petco on E. Coliseum.
Petco Love is a national nonprofit leading change for pets by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested nearly $410 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And Petco Love helps find loving homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations — like ours — across North America, with nearly 7 million pets adopted and counting.
“Our investment in FWACC is part of more than $12M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We launched Petco Love Lost, a free national lost and found database that uses photo-matching technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”
“Annually, we receive thousands of animals, many come into our care suffering from injuries or illnesses. These pets who are needing critical medical treatment due to injury, illness, or neglect will be able to receive lifesaving treatment because of this investment from Petco Love. Petco Love’s continued partnership means so much to our organization, our community, and the animals,” says Amy-Jo Sites, Director of Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control.
Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control promotes humane education and positive outcomes for healthy and treatable pets. In 2024, FWACC investigated 123 animal cruelty cases and assisted over 11,000 animals. The support that Petco Love provides has helped to make many lifesaving initiatives possible including funding for veterinary staff, medical equipment, and providing integral treatments to hundreds of pets who experienced injury from accidents, cruelty or neglect. Petco is Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control’s 10th offsite adoption location.
