ALLEN CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The Allen County Sheriff’s Department says a minor was shot in a neighborhood off Bass Road Wednesday afternoon.
Officers and medics were called around 4:15 to Townsend Run and located the boy who had been shot in the leg.
Responding deputies located a male juvenile at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
A firearm was recovered and secured at the scene. Investigators with the department’s Detective Bureau and Crime Scene Unit were called in to assist with the investigation.
According to preliminary findings, the incident began when two male juveniles attempted to sell vape pen cartridges to two other juveniles. A disagreement ensued, during which a firearm was displayed. A physical struggle followed, and the weapon discharged, striking one of the individuals. The two juveniles who had reportedly intended to purchase the cartridges fled the scene after the shooting.
Authorities confirmed that the firearm used in the incident had previously been reported stolen. Subsequent investigation led to the discovery of two additional firearms, one of which was also reported as stolen.
The incident remains under active investigation. Officials noted that the details are still developing and subject to change as more information becomes available.

Callers indicated that several juveniles appeared to be fighting over a firearm, and that one juvenile had been shot in the leg. It was also reported that multiple individuals fled the scene before officers arrived.
