FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department responded Thursday to a video circulating on social media that shows officers using force on a man during an arrest.
Captain Jeremy Webb released a statement saying that the footage followed a traffic stop around 9 p.m. near East Washington Boulevard and South Hanna Street. Officers pulled the man over on suspicion of drug activity.
Webb said the suspect resisted arrest and tried to flee before being forced to the ground and taken into custody.
The man was identified as 33-year-old Robert E. Lee.

The FWPD is aware of a viral video that is circulating social media that shows Officers using force on a resisting suspect. This incident occurred April 23rd, 2025 at approximately 8:54 pm in the area of E. Washington Blvd. and S. Hanna St. A traffic stop was conducted on the suspect after the suspect dealt drugs. During the course of the traffic stop the suspect physically resisted arrest and attempted to flee. He was directed to the ground and force was used to gain compliance and place the suspect into custody.
Arrested: Robert E. Lee, 33 years of age
Preliminary Charges: Dealing Cocaine (Level 5 Felony), Resisting Law Enforcement Causing Injury (Level 6 Felony), and Possession of Paraphernalia (Misd.)
