FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Mayor Sharon Tucker proclaimed yesterday as Bishop Dwenger Girls Gymnastics Team Day in the City of Fort Wayne during a special recognition ceremony at Citizens Square.
Bishop Dwenger recently captured the state championship in girls gymnastics.

The City has released the following:
Kobi Johnson scored a 9.625 to win the floor exercise which led Bishop Dwenger to win the school’s sixth gymnastics state championship and first since 2012. The victory also represented the sixth state title under coach Rose Nix’s leadership.
Bishop Dwenger scored 112.975 points. Johnson’s teammates Avery Gleave and Maria Szczepanski finished third and fourth, respectively, in the all-around standings and the three all finished in the top four in the vault competition.
The 53rd Annual IHSAA Gymnastics State Finals event was held at Ball State University’s Worthen Arena on March 15.
“It’s important to take time to recognize outstanding accomplishments and the young ladies from Bishop Dwenger have represented Fort Wayne very well with teamwork and sportsmanship,” said Mayor Tucker. “I’m encouraged to see how sports can bring out the best in people and build one another up in a positive manner that will have a lasting impact.”
