FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The City of Fort Wayne’s popular Curb Appeal program is back for the third year, and applications will be accepted beginning Tuesday, April 22, at 9 a.m.
Applications will close Friday, April 25, at 5 p.m. Information about applying is online HERE
“The Curb Appeal program is a great example of the City investing in our neighborhoods and finding ways to help residents, particularly seniors and those on fixed incomes, add value to their homes,” said Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker. “This is the kind of work that makes a big impact in people’s lives and enhances the quality of life for residents.”
The City released the following:
The program supports neighborhood revitalization by helping homeowners repair and enhance the exterior of their properties. The program reimburses eligible homeowners for up to $2,500 of a project’s cost and they must pay for a minimum of 20 percent of the work. Community Development’s Office of Housing and Neighborhoods Services manages Curb Appeal and estimates capacity for the program is about 125 projects. The department will accept and award eligible applications on a first-come, first-serve basis until all program funds are allocated.
All projects must be visible from a public sidewalk or right-of-way and can include work such as: installing landscaping beds and planter areas, tree or shrub removal or installation, exterior washing or painting of the home, repair or replacement of windows, doors and lighting and more.
Eligibility for the program is detailed online, but in general:
The program is available to property owners in eligible neighborhoods (those that have recently or are currently involved in developing a neighborhood plan in partnership with the City’s Neighborhoods Department);
Owners must meet income requirements that follow guidelines developed by the federal government;
Owners who have received reimbursement from a previous Curb Appeal program are not eligible.
Residents are encouraged to visit www.curbappealfortwayne.com beginning Tuesday, April 22 to find complete information, see if they are eligible, and start the application process. Paper applications are available for pick-up and drop-off at Citizens Square, 200 E. Berry St., Suite 320.
