FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Authorities are investigating the death of a Paulding County man who went into cardiac arrest during a dental appointment in Indiana.
Authorities say that 62-year-old Larry Lewis was under sedation at his March 13th appointment when he suffered the medical event. Lewis died 13 days later.
The Allen County Coroner released the following:
On Thursday, March 27, 2025, the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified by a local hospital regarding the death of Larry L. Lewis, male, White, age 62, from Haviland, Ohio. On March 13, 2025, Larry L. Lewis was a patient at a local dentistry facility undergoing a procedure that involved sedation. During the procedure, the decedent suffered a cardio pulmonary arrest event and staff initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Emergency personnel were summoned and when West Central EMS arrived, they assumed lifesaving care. He was transported to a local hospital where his conditional declined. On March 25, 2025, he was transferred to a local hospice facility. The decedent’s condition declined and death was pronounced on March 26, 2025.
An autopsy has been completed and notification has been made to the next of kin. Larry L. Lewis’ Cause of Death and the Manner of Death is pending investigation.
The incident remains under investigation by the Indiana Attorney General’s Office, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
