FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – National Library Week is April 6–12, 2025, and the Allen County Public Library is celebrating the 2025 theme “Drawn to the Library!” by shining a light on all of the things that draw people to their local library.
From books and digital resources to job assistance and creative programming, libraries are essential to thriving communities.
ACPL representatives say that National Library Week is a time to celebrate the many ways libraries bring people together, foster connection, and support lifelong learning. At the Allen County Public Library, we invite the community to join the celebration! Whether you’re a longtime patron or haven’t visited in a while, now is the perfect time to explore all the library has to offer and see how it draws us together as a community.
No matter where a person is on their journey—preparing for a new career, launching a business, raising a family, or settling into retirement—the Allen County Public Library offers the resources and support needed in a welcoming and supportive community. So, get ready to explore, become inspired, and connect with others this National Library Week. This year, several themes will be explored nationally, including:
Monday, April 7: Right to Read Day, a day for readers, advocates, and library lovers to take action to protect, defend, and celebrate the right to read.
Tuesday, April 8: National Library Workers Day, a day for library staff, users, administrators, and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.
Wednesday, April 9: National Library Outreach Day, a day to celebrate library outreach and the dedicated library professionals who are meeting their patrons where they are such as the ACPL’s Library at Home program.
Thursday, April 10: Take Action for Libraries Day, a day to rally advocates to support libraries. This year, the ACPL is asking the community to rally around the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The community can learn more here.
Locally, ACPL staff will have spirit days and the ACPL Store will be offering discounts for the community to purchase ACPL merchandise in support of the Friends of the Library. These can be found at acpl.info/store.
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance celebrated by libraries of all types across the country each April. For more information about library resources, visit the library’s website at www.acpl.info.
