STEUBEN CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – A Michigan man is facing charges after he took off on a motorcycle when police tried to stop him for dangerous driving. On Saturday, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy noticed a motorcycle driving recklessly eastbound on Toledo Street in front of Fremont High School in the town of Fremont.
They initiated a traffic stop due to the unsafe driving near the Fremont Eagle One Stop, at Toledo Street and Wayne Street. The motorcycle, a black 2012 KTM, briefly stopped before fleeing westbound on Toledo Street at a high rate of speed.
A pursuit followed through Fremont and Fremont Township, continuing into Jamestown Township. The suspect then led deputies into Pokagon State Park, where the chase ended on a trail near County Road 500 N. The suspect, 20-year-old Anthony David Cerget of Rochester Hills, MI, was apprehended without further incident. He was arrested and booked into the Steuben County Jail on preliminary charges of Level 6 felony Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle and Class C misdemeanor Reckless Driving.

On 04/05/2025, just after 6:00 pm, a Steuben County Sheriff’s deputy observed a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Toledo St in front of Fremont High School in the town of Fremont driving recklessly. A traffic stop was initiated for the unsafe driving behavior near the Fremont Eagle One Stop at the intersection of Toledo St and Wayne St. The driver of the motorcycle, a black 2012 KTM, stopped briefly before fleeing from the Sheriff’s deputy westbound on Toledo St at a high rate of speed.
A subsequent vehicle chase ensured in and around the town of Fremont and Fremont Township before heading west into Jamestown Township. The suspect then lead deputies into Pokagon State Park where the chase ultimately ended on a trail near CR 500 N. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and identified as 20-year-old Anthony David Cerget of Rochester Hills, MI. Cerget was booked into the Steuben County Jail on preliminary charges level 6 felony Resisting Law Enforcement Using a Vehicle and class C misdemeanor Reckless Driving.
Cegret has since posted a $3,500 bond and was released. The case remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and additional charges may be sought. Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were Indiana State Police and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Law Enforcement Division.
