The FWPD released the following just before 6 a.m.:
On Friday early morning an officer on patrol observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed going around another vehicle. The officer was able to get caught up to the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop at Lake Ave and Laverne Ave.
Upon activating the police vehicles emergency lights, the vehicle accelerated from the patrol vehicle creating significant distance from the officer. As the speeding vehicle crossed State Blvd the vehicle started to lose control and crashed into a tree.
