INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana would become part of a small group of states with partisan school boards under a bill approved by the state House Tuesday.
The vote was 54-to-40, with 14 Republicans joining all 26 Democrats in opposition.
Representative Jim Lucas of Seymour supports the bill and says, “It’s important that we know who is running for our school boards” and says decisions have been made that are “extremely controversial.” Democratic Representative Cherrish Pryor of Indianapolis says his comments show that Republicans are putting politics into school board races “at a level that is truly beneath us.”
